Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday

By June 4, 2024Insurance

At Atlas Insurance in Sarasota, FL, we understand the value of protecting your family, business, and possessions. With hurricane season here, it’s a great time to take advantage of tax-free opportunities to stock up on essential supplies.

With the current sales tax holiday consumers can buy qualifying disaster preparedness supplies tax-free. Enacted by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis, this tax holiday runs from Saturday, June 1 through Friday, June 14. A second tax-free period will take place from Saturday, August 24 through Friday, September 6. The Department of Revenue has created a webpage to offer information and promotional materials for consumers, businesses, and other interested parties.

During the 2024 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, the following qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax.

The sales tax holiday does not cover the rental or repair of any qualifying items. Furthermore, it does not apply to sales made in theme parks, entertainment complexes, public lodging establishments, or airports.

Our experience and knowledge help us navigate the unique risks you face, ensuring you have the right coverage tailored to your needs. Let us guide you through insurance complexities so you can focus on what truly matters.
